In Vietnam today, Flamco's range of products—including air and dirt separators, pressurization degassers, expansion vessels, and various valves and HVAC equipment—is becoming increasingly well-known and widely used. One of Flamco's most famous solutions is the ENA Vacuum Degasser, a negative pressure degassing system designed for both Heating and Cooling systems. It's recommended to boost system performance, save energy, and extend equipment life. Because of the importance of removing gas from a system, more and more projects are integrating a vacuum degassing system with a pressurization system into their HVAC M&E designs.

Overview of Flamco's ENA Vacuum Degasser

The ENA Vacuum Degasser is used for active, automatic degassing and refilling of Heating and Cooling (Chiller) systems. The ENA is a pressure-step degasser that uses a vacuum to provide highly effective degassing for closed systems. Furthermore, the ENA ensures that the system is automatically refilled after the supply water has been degassed. It can be easily used in combination with a Flexcon pressure expansion vessel or an automatic pressure expansion device.

Introducing the Flamco Vacuum Degasser for Cooling/Heating Systems

Advantages of the ENA Vacuum Degasser

The ENA Vacuum Degasser has several outstanding advantages, such as:

  • Active degassing using patented PALL-Ring technology.
  • The controller's menu is available in 18 languages.
  • Easy to use and user-friendly.
  • Fully assembled and ready to connect.
  • Compact and robust design.
  • The controller can be programmed as needed and connected to a BMS (RS 485).

How the ENA Works

The ENA Vacuum Degasser primarily functions as an active degassing device. It can also serve as a supplement for refilling water lost from the system.

1. Degassing Process

To degas the water, system water is drawn in via a bypass from the system return line. The water runs through a flow regulator and a filter into the degassing tank. The gas is subjected to the vacuum during the pump's cyclical operation and while passing through the PALL rings. Due to the lower pressure and the large surface area of the PALL rings, dissolved air separates from the water.

When the pump is off, the refill medium flows into the tank, causing the pressure in the tank to increase to the system's pressure level. This allows accumulated air above the water level to be discharged through the device's vent. While the pump is running, the water supply is returned via the bypass to the system's return branch.

2. Turbo Degassing Mode

The time the pump is running (forming a vacuum) alternates with a period during which air is discharged (pump is stopped).

3. Normal Degassing Mode

An additional pause is added between the end of the vacuum-forming period and the start of the pump. This additional period can be selected via a parameter within a fixed range. When the degassing period ends, the system switches to normal degassing mode, which then runs continuously. Normal degassing mode is interrupted by a selectable pause (by default, from 6 PM – 8 AM). The start of the next degassing cycle occurs in normal degassing mode.

Conclusion

To ensure a Chiller/Boiler system operates efficiently, saves energy, and has high performance with minimal maintenance costs, it's essential to consider installing a degassing device. This solution is considered indispensable in the modern design of Cooling and Heating systems.
