Hard water is a common challenge for hotels, resorts, commercial buildings, residential developments and industrial facilities. High concentrations of calcium and other dissolved minerals can lead to limescale formation, particularly when water is heated. Over time, scale can accumulate on heat-transfer surfaces, pipework, valves, sanitary fittings and other water-using equipment, potentially affecting system performance and increasing cleaning and maintenance requirements.

ActivFlo Commercial provides a catalytic approach to hard water and limescale treatment without adding salt or chemicals to the water. The system is installed directly inline with the water pipe, making it suitable for commercial water distribution systems where a compact and low-maintenance solution is required.

The ActivFlo Commercial unit contains a patented catalytic alloy manufactured from a combination of semi-precious metals. As hard water passes through the catalytic chamber, the natural conductivity of the water enables interaction between the metals and generates an electrical field across the alloy surface.

This process encourages calcium and bicarbonate ions to form microscopic calcium carbonate crystals known as aragonite. The smooth crystal structure of aragonite has a lower tendency to adhere strongly to surfaces compared with conventional limescale deposits.

As a result, mineral residue that may appear on surfaces such as shower fittings, taps and other bathroom equipment can be easier to remove through normal cleaning, without requiring aggressive chemical cleaners or intensive scrubbing.

Catalytic Water Conditioning Technology

ActivFlo Commercial does not remove calcium and magnesium from the water through conventional filtration. Instead, its catalytic technology changes the way calcium carbonate crystallizes.

The resulting aragonite crystals remain in the water but are less prone to strongly adhering to surfaces. This allows the naturally occurring mineral content of the water to remain while helping control the unwanted effects associated with hard-water scale.

For hotels and resorts, where shower fittings, hot-water systems, heat exchangers, valves and extensive plumbing networks are exposed to water continuously, this approach can help reduce scale-related maintenance and keep water-using equipment operating more effectively.

The system is available in DN15, DN20, DN25, DN32, DN40 and DN50, providing a range of options for commercial water pipework from smaller branches to larger distribution lines.
