Static Balancing Valves

Static balancing valves, also known as manual balancing valves, are widely used in traditional HVAC hydronic systems to manually regulate and balance water flow throughout the network. Flow rates are set during system commissioning based on the design requirements of each circuit, using balancing instruments to accurately adjust the valve settings. Although manual balancing valves require more time for on-site commissioning than automatic balancing solutions, they offer greater flexibility when the final design flow rates are not fully defined during the engineering stage. Unlike automatic balancing valves or PICVs with fixed design flow settings, manual balancing valves allow flow adjustments to be made easily during installation and commissioning, making them an ideal solution for projects where system conditions may change before completion. Another key advantage of static balancing valves is their cost-effectiveness, particularly in large pipe sizes, where they often provide a more economical solution than automatic balancing valves or Pressure Independent Control Valves (PICVs). For these reasons, static balancing valves continue to be widely specified in commercial HVAC projects around the world.
