The Belimo LU Series Non-Spring Return Damper Actuators are designed to provide dependable and precise control of small air dampers in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Manufactured by Belimo Switzerland, the LU Series combines compact dimensions, intelligent electronic control, and maintenance-free operation, making it an excellent solution for a wide range of commercial HVAC applications.
As an integral part of HVAC systems, the actuator regulates the opening and closing of air dampers that control fresh air intake, return air, exhaust air, and mixed air. Accurate damper positioning improves indoor air quality, enhances occupant comfort, and helps optimize the energy efficiency of ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
The LU Series delivers 3 Nm (27 in-lb) of output torque, making it suitable for controlling dampers up to approximately 6 ft². Designed for On/Off and Floating (3-point) control, the actuator offers stable and reliable performance for air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), ventilation systems, and other HVAC applications.
The actuator utilizes a high-efficiency brushless DC motor controlled by Belimo's proprietary Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC). The ASIC continuously monitors actuator operation and incorporates Digital Rotation Sensing (DRS) technology to protect against overload and stall conditions. Once the desired position is reached, power consumption is automatically reduced in holding mode, improving energy efficiency and extending actuator service life.
With a typical operating time of 150 seconds, the LU Series provides smooth and consistent damper movement while requiring virtually no maintenance throughout its operational life.
